About the role
The Kenya Medical Laboratory Students Association (KEMELSA) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Mentor and Trainer to support medical laboratory students across Kenya. This on‑site, unpaid position offers the chance to share your expertise, guide future professionals, and help shape the next generation of laboratory specialists.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate interactive workshops and training sessions for students.
- Create and distribute educational materials aligned with current laboratory standards.
- Conduct one‑on‑one mentorship meetings to discuss career pathways and skill development.
- Build and maintain networks with healthcare institutions, professional bodies, and industry partners to secure internship and job opportunities for students.
- Organise events that promote knowledge exchange and professional growth.
Required profile
- Strong mentorship, coaching, and training abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and inspire students.
- Solid understanding of medical laboratory practices, industry trends, and standards.
- Ability to create networking opportunities and foster professional relationships.
- Leadership and organisational skills for managing workshops and events.
- Passion for education and youth empowerment within the medical field.
- Prior experience in similar mentoring or training roles is an advantage.
