Business Development Officer - Corporate Life

About the role

Old Mutual is hiring a Business Development Officer for its Corporate Life business in Nairobi (Westlands). The role drives new business and growth for Group Life, Group Credit Life, Group Last Expense and Group Critical Illness, working with corporate clients, brokers and intermediaries.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the approved annual budget and drive new business and growth from existing accounts through prospecting, cross-selling and up-selling
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and exceed agreed sales targets; identify new markets, segments and corporate opportunities
• Develop proposals and quotations accurately and on time, follow up on them and analyse lost opportunities
• Gather market intelligence on competitors, pricing and product trends and share insights with the team
• Build relationships with corporate clients, brokers, agents and other partners, manage key accounts and support retention
• Support the acquisition of new intermediaries and distribution partners, and channel initiatives
• Support credit control and timely premium collection, and coordinate policy issuance and premium processing
• Maintain CRM records of opportunities, prospects and conversions, prepare sales and pipeline reports and monitor performance against targets

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in business development, sales or account management, preferably in insurance or financial services
• Experience with brokers, intermediaries and corporate clients, and with new business acquisition and pipeline management
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Insurance, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field
• Preferred: experience in Group Life, Group Credit Life, employee benefits or other corporate insurance products; professional qualification in insurance or sales/marketing
