Business Origination Manager – Food & Agriculture

About the role

Equity Bank Kenya is seeking a Business Origination Manager to lead the Food & Agriculture credit portfolio. The role involves developing, assessing and presenting credit proposals, ensuring compliance with risk policies and supporting sustainable financing across agricultural value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and analyse Food & Agriculture credit proposals for presentation to the Executive Committee.
• Present business cases to the Credit Risk Department and relevant Credit Committees.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of F&A risk policies and credit appraisal templates.
• Maintain client profiling criteria and business review matrices for agricultural and food value chains.
• Provide advisory support on industry trends, emerging risks and macro‑economic factors.
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews, stress testing and environmental & social compliance monitoring.
• Train branch staff and support resolution of credit‑risk issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Food Sciences, Agriculture Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as AKIB, ACIB, CPA, ACCA, CFA are an advantage.
• Minimum eight years of progressive experience in the Food & Agriculture sector, with at least five years in technical credit analysis within banking or financial services.
• Proven ability to structure credit proposals, analyse financial statements and assess industry dynamics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Use of sector analysis tools for credit appraisal.
