Claims Officer – Insurance Claims Management

About the role

Claims Officer at APA Life Assurance is responsible for processing insurance claims, verifying documentation and managing settlements. The role requires a degree in Insurance, Business or Actuarial Science and at least four years of claims experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice to policyholders on claim procedures and process new claim notifications.
• Collect accurate information and documents, analyse claims and arrange repairs with approved service providers.
• Monitor claim progress, investigate potential fraud and ensure fair settlement in line with company guidelines.
• Maintain relationships with loss adjusters, forensic accountants, solicitors and other legal professionals.
• Handle complaints, initiate legal recovery of monies paid out and keep costs to a minimum.
• Liaise with underwriting for policy terms, ensure premiums are settled before processing and maintain accurate claim records.
• Train and support new staff on procedures and contribute to team meetings to resolve performance issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Actuarial Science or a related field.
• At least four years of relevant experience in insurance claims handling.
• Professional qualification such as ACII or AIIK.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and integrity attributes.
