County Coordination Consultant – Nakuru County

About the role

Girl Effect is seeking an individual consultant to serve as the principal coordination and implementation focal point for its sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and maternal and child health (MCH) programmes in Nakuru County, Kenya. The consultant will provide county‑level leadership, ensure alignment of partners, and deliver timely, high‑quality programme activities on the ground.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the county implementation plan, activity calendar and stakeholder engagement plan in line with the approved strategy, workplan and budget.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day delivery and logistical arrangements for all county activities with Girl Effect and implementing partners.
• Convene regular partner check‑ins, track actions, dependencies and decisions, and follow through to completion.
• Monitor county milestones, promptly escalating delays, implementation risks, quality concerns and decisions requiring Girl Effect’s input.
• Serve as the primary liaison with county and sub‑county government departments, health teams and focal persons, ensuring programme activities align with county priorities and reporting structures.
• Represent Girl Effect at approved county forums and technical working groups, preparing meeting materials, documenting actions and providing timely updates.
• Map and maintain an up‑to‑date directory of implementing partners, health and community actors, related programmes and referral resources in Nakuru County.
• Monitor partner performance through routine support visits, track delivery against agreed plans and standards, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Identify, map and periodically validate public and private referral sites, verifying provider readiness, commodity availability and referral procedures.
• Support recruitment, training, deployment and supervision of community champions, facilitators and health promoters.
• Ensure community screenings, dialogue sessions and outreach activities follow approved content, tools and referral protocols while providing field teams with routine coaching and quality support.
• Track agreed county indicators, maintain accurate records on programme activities, reach, referrals, service access and partner performance, and conduct routine data‑quality checks.
• Ensure all county activities comply with Girl Effect’s safeguarding, ethical and data‑protection requirements and report concerns through approved channels.
