Resident Dentist

About the role

Valley Hospital is seeking a Resident Dentist to join its oral health team in Nakuru. You will provide comprehensive dental care in a modern hospital setting, working with up‑to‑date equipment and collaborating with specialists to improve community oral health.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a full spectrum of oral health conditions, including emergencies, routine check‑ups and complex implant cases.
• Create and manage individualized treatment plans, coordinating referrals for surgical procedures when needed.
• Educate patients on preventive care, hygiene practices and long‑term oral health maintenance.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records for every patient interaction.
• Supervise and mentor dental auxiliary staff, ensuring adherence to best‑practice standards.
• Operate and maintain dental equipment, guaranteeing proper sterilisation and safety protocols.
• Contribute to the development of hospital‑wide dental policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent qualification.
• Valid registration with the Medical Practitioners & Dentists Council and a private practising licence.
• 2–3+ years post‑internship experience in general dentistry.
• Clinical exposure to orofacial pain and oral medicine.
• Advanced training such as ACLS or ATLS (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and genuine empathy for patients.
