Early Years Headteacher

About the role

Arenville Academy (AVA) is seeking an Early Years Headteacher to lead its Montessori‑Reggio Emilia early childhood school in Kitisuru, Nairobi. The role combines pedagogical leadership, operational management and partnership with families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of AVA’s project‑based, play‑centred curriculum across all early years classes.
• Oversee daily school operations, staffing schedules and classroom coverage.
• Conduct regular classroom observations, provide constructive feedback and drive professional development.
• Maintain safeguarding, health, safety and compliance standards.
• Build strong relationships with parents, lead communication and handle escalated conversations.
• Identify improvement priorities, lead initiatives and report to the Director.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education (ECE) or related field recognised by KNQA.
• Valid TSC registration.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Lead Teacher, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or administrative role.
• Experience implementing project‑based learning for children under six.
• Current DCI Certificate of Good Conduct and First Aid/CPR certification.
