Entry-Level Petroleum Officer (Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Engineering)

About the role

The Public Service Commission is recruiting entry‑level Petroleum Officers for the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. Positions are open for Geologists, Geophysicists, Geochemists and Engineers who will work under senior staff on oil and gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and compile petroleum‑related geological, geophysical, geochemical or engineering data.
• Assist in the execution of planned field surveys for oil and gas projects.
• Participate in basin analysis using geological, geophysical or geochemical data.
• Contribute to the preparation of petroleum‑related reports.
• Compile and disseminate oil and gas information for relevant stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Geo‑Science, Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Engineering or a related discipline from a university recognized in Kenya.
• Degree must be accredited and meet the civil service entry‑level criteria.

What we offer

• Basic salary scale Ksh 45,210 – Ksh 61,020 per month (CSG 10).
• Additional allowances: House Ksh 16,500, Commuter Ksh 5,000, and leave allowance as per civil service.
• Permanent, pensionable position with civil service benefits.
