Grants Financial Specialist II – Africa (Remote)

About the role

Compassion International is looking for a Grants Financial Specialist II to lead financial planning and management for U.S. Government and other donor‑funded programs across the Africa region. The role is remote, based in one of the eligible African countries, and supports the full grant lifecycle from proposal development to close‑out.

Key responsibilities

• Develop budgets, budget justifications and narratives for U.S. Government grant proposals and other institutional donors.
• Manage financial activities throughout the grant lifecycle, including monitoring expenditures, forecasts and performance.
• Prepare donor‑compliant financial reports and conduct budget variance analysis.
• Support donor and procurement audits, including Single Audits for U.S. Government‑funded programs.
• Strengthen internal financial controls and ensure compliance with donor regulations such as 2 CFR 200.
• Collaborate with finance, program, legal, compliance and field teams across multiple African countries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in grants finance, donor compliance or financial management, preferably in an NGO or international development setting.
• Demonstrated experience developing budgets and narratives for U.S. Government grants.
• Strong knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and experience with UN or other institutional donors.
• Experience supporting or managing Single Audits for U.S. Government‑funded programs.
• Excellent analytical, budgeting and forecasting abilities.
