Graphic Artist – MWR Media & Printing Services

About the role

The Graphic Artist will lead the arts, graphics and media centre for a US Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program on Diego Garcia. You will deliver high‑quality personalized printing, engraving and design services while supporting marketing and outreach for MWR activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide custom printing services such as T‑shirts, sports uniforms, brass trophy and plaque engraving.
• Interpret customer design orders and create personalized graphics using CAD and design software.
• Produce a monthly colour MWR newsletter and ensure government approval before distribution.
• Submit event information to island‑wide publications (Plan of the Day, Tropical Times, Naval Media Center, etc.).
• Operate and maintain printing, engraving and graphic equipment, keeping accurate order records.
• Collaborate with MWR staff to develop marketing materials that meet branding and Navy regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve graphic and media services by staying current with technology trends.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in graphic design, media production or a related arts field.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or formal education in graphic design, arts or marketing preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and maintain high quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW (or equivalent).
• Hands‑on operation of printing machines, engravers and other graphic media equipment.
