Gym Trainee

About the role

Kempinski Hotels is hiring a full-time Gym Trainee in Nairobi (Westlands), reporting to the Training Manager. The trainee learns the activities and operations of the fitness centre under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, while upholding company policies and requirements at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and employees using the Fitness Center
• Show sensitivity to guests' needs and cultural differences
• Motivate guests to follow a fitness program and achieve their goals
• Evaluate guests' physical fitness level and develop a fitness program for each guest
• Teach exercise classes and coordinate the timetable, updating it regularly
• Monitor the progress of each guest's fitness program
• Assist members with equipment use, prepare equipment and supplies daily, and keep the facility clean and tidy
• Take inventory of the Fitness Center
• Follow company policies and procedures, the Employee Handbook, and the fire, hygiene, health and safety rules, and report and fix hazards immediately

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in fitness science, gym operations or a related course from a recognized institution, completed within less than one year of graduation (2025/2026)
• No work experience required
• Kenyan citizen
• Completed coursework, even if not yet graduated
• Ability to work and communicate in a multinational environment
• Good grooming, professional and personal etiquette, good communication skills, outgoing and positive learning attitude
