Principal Hospitality Officer

About the role

The Principal Hospitality Officer at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) in Nairobi leads the efficient organization and management of hospitality services. The role covers advising on hospitality trends, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and food safety regulations, overseeing procurement and maintenance of equipment and materials, supervising and appraising staff, promoting mentorship and coordinating risk management strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead the efficient and proper organization and management of hospitality services
• Advise on current trends in hospitality and food tastes
• Implement and adhere to the Quality Management System and Customer Service Charter to meet customer requirements
• Ensure conformity with industry regulations, food safety requirements and operating procedures
• Benchmark with other institutions on best practices and implement them
• Provide specifications for the procurement of hospitality equipment, materials and facilities
• Oversee the requisition of hospitality equipment and materials
• Maintain an adequate inventory for hospitality requirements
• Promote and enhance mentorship and coaching strategies for the unit
• Coordinate and implement the risk management policy and strategies for the unit
• Supervise and appraise staff

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Catering Management, Hotel and Hospitality Management or an equivalent from a recognized institution
• Cumulative service period of nine years of relevant work experience, three of which at the grade of Senior Hospitality Officer or in a comparable position
• Management course of at least four weeks from a recognized institution
• Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing
