Health & Safety Specialist – Kisumu

About the role

The Health & Safety Specialist will lead on‑site safety operations for a manufacturing facility in Kisumu. You will ensure compliance with Kenyan regulations, drive emergency preparedness, and foster a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Approve, supervise and record high‑risk operations; conduct daily hazard inspections and monthly audits of electrical and combustible materials.
• Manage the Emergency Response Team and part‑time safety officer lists; oversee weekly fire‑system inspections and coordinate quarterly fire drills.
• Perform comprehensive safety risk assessments and audits to meet national standards.
• Lead incident investigations, track corrective actions and ensure closed‑loop resolution.
• Develop and deliver onboarding safety training, share accident case studies, and act as the internal and external safety liaison.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of safety management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and leadership abilities.
