Health & Safety Specialist – Kisumu

About the role

The Health & Safety Specialist will oversee on‑site safety operations in Kisumu, ensuring compliance with national regulations and driving emergency preparedness. You will play a pivotal role in hazard identification, safety audits, training, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Approve, supervise, and record high‑risk operations; conduct daily hazard inspections and monthly electrical/combustible material audits; implement safety incentive and disciplinary programs.
• Manage and update Emergency Response Team (ERT) and part‑time safety officer lists; supervise weekly fire system inspections and coordinate quarterly fire drills.
• Perform comprehensive safety risk assessments and audits; lead incident investigations, track corrective actions, and ensure closed‑loop resolution.
• Establish and deliver onboarding safety training; share accident case studies; act as internal and external safety liaison to build a robust safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent certification.
• Minimum 3 years of safety management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, accident prevention, regulatory compliance, and safety audit reporting.
