HSE Specialist

About the role

The HSE Specialist will support local management in building and continuously improving a strong Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture at the Nairobi worksite. You will act as a key advisor, ensuring HSE policies are embedded in daily operations and that compliance with local and corporate standards is maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Develop managers' awareness of HSE policies and integrate them into line‑management objectives.
• Assist line management with implementing the HSE Management System, monitoring objectives and preparing HSE plans.
• Liaise with local contractors and agencies on HSE matters, assess risks, and generate procedures, work instructions and checklists.
• Conduct compliance audits, self‑audits and advise on corrective actions.
• Coordinate HSE training, keep documentation up‑to‑date and ensure it is available onsite.
• Monitor HSE reports, facilitate LPT meetings and audits, and support investigations of incidents.
• Promote HSE awareness through communication, training and employee involvement.
• Analyze HSE trends for the location and recommend program improvements.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in a similar HSE role.
• Graduate degree in a Health, Safety and Environment related field.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, solve problems independently and follow QHSE standards.
• Experience in the energy industry is an advantage.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
