About the role
CrossBoundary Energy is seeking an Investment Associate or Senior Investment Associate to support the full investment cycle for distributed renewable energy projects across African markets. The role involves capital raising, project finance, development, and portfolio management for solar, wind, thermal and battery storage assets.
Key responsibilities
- Lead senior and subordinated debt capital raising, preparing financial models, presentations, investment memoranda and term‑sheet negotiations.
- Assess and structure project investment opportunities from early‑stage leads through to financial close, ensuring bankability and alignment with portfolio objectives.
- Drive project‑level fundraising for senior debt, subordinated debt and bridge instruments.
- Analyse project economics, risks and contracts to support value‑accretive development.
- Maintain portfolio models, track performance metrics and debt covenants, and proactively identify key risks.
- Execute tax, capital and corporate structuring to optimise economic outcomes.
- Prepare investor updates and engagement materials for group and project‑level investors.
- Identify and implement solutions to mitigate investment risks across the portfolio.
Required profile
- 3–6 years of experience in energy, infrastructure or project finance at a top‑tier investment bank, commercial bank or specialist advisory firm.
- Demonstrated transaction experience in corporate/project finance, financial modelling, due diligence, fundraising and investment analysis.
- Strong understanding of African energy sector markets.
- Excellent analytical capabilities with high attention to detail.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills across cultures.
- BA/BSc/HND qualification (minimum).
- Full‑time availability; preferred location Nairobi, Kenya or London, UK with infrequent travel.
