Junior Accountant – Restaurant Group (Hospitality)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Junior Accountant to manage the full accounting function for a growing group of four franchised restaurants in Nairobi. The role will ensure accurate financial records, support operational efficiency, and provide analysis for management decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier and accounts payable processes, including reconciliations, statements, pricing reviews and timely payments.
• Oversee stock control across all restaurant locations through regular stocktakes, daily count reviews and variance investigations.
• Monitor daily cash, card and delivery aggregator collections, reconciling restaurant banking with POS reports and third‑party statements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in the system, prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and analysis.
• Handle tax and statutory compliance, preparing monthly VAT returns, withholding tax filings and reconciling with KRA iTax data.
• Ensure timely renewal of licences, permits and other regulatory requirements, maintaining documentation for audits.
• Supervise the stock controller and collaborate with restaurant management to strengthen financial controls.

Required profile

• CPA (K), ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, restaurant, retail or multi‑site operations.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online and financial reporting.
• Good knowledge of Kenyan VAT, withholding tax, KRA iTax and statutory compliance.
• Experience in stock control, supplier management, cash and banking reconciliations, and financial controls.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a hands‑on approach in a fast‑paced environment.
