Legal Consultant (International Transactions & IP)

About the role

The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is looking for a Legal Consultant to support its international transactions and intellectual property matters within the agricultural and biological sectors. This consultancy will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance and protect the Centre’s innovations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on cross‑border agreements, licensing, and IP protection.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to agricultural research and technology transfer.
• Support the Centre’s compliance with international regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with scientific and operational teams to align legal strategies with project goals.

Required profile

• Degree in Law or a related field.
• Experience in international transactions and intellectual property, preferably in agriculture or biotechnology.
• Fluent spoken and written English; additional language(s) an advantage.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary, non‑profit environments.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and negotiation.
• Knowledge of international IP law.
• Understanding of agricultural and biological research contracts.
