About the role
The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) seeks part‑time lecturers to teach Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The role involves preparing learning materials, delivering practical sessions, assessing performance and supporting research activities.
Key responsibilities
- Teach and mentor students in GIS and RS programmes.
- Develop and deliver practical training sessions and laboratory work.
- Prepare course materials, assignments and assessment tools.
- Supervise student projects and contribute to curriculum development.
Required profile
- At least a Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as GIS, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related disciplines.
- Minimum two (2) years of professional or industry experience in GIS, Remote Sensing, or related geospatial technologies.
Required skills
- ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Google Earth Engine.
- Python, R, ArcPy, GeoPandas.
- Spatial statistics, machine learning, deep learning, GeoAI.
- TensorFlow, PyTorch.
- PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial.
- UAV mapping, drone operations, digital photogrammetry, LiDAR processing.
- Satellite image analysis and remote sensing techniques.
