Programme Officer – Health Programme

About the role

The Programme Officer will coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of the Uzazi Salama activities, ensuring that workplans are translated into timely actions at county, facility and community levels. Reporting to the Programme Manager, the role involves organising trainings, supportive supervision, community engagement and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Translate annual and quarterly workplans into detailed activity schedules and coordinate logistics for programme activities.
• Organise health‑worker trainings, mentorship, supportive supervision, community dialogues and faith‑leader engagement.
• Maintain regular communication with county, sub‑county, facility and partner teams to resolve routine implementation issues.
• Track activity completion, deliverables and milestones, providing regular updates to the Programme Manager.
• Identify operational delays and bottlenecks, escalating critical issues for strategic action.
• Support preparation of meeting materials, field schedules and documentation of implementation experiences.
• Collaborate with M&E Officer to ensure accurate data capture and with Programme Accountant for timely financial processes.

Required profile

• Nursing or medical qualification (Diploma or Degree) in a relevant field.
• 3–5 years of experience implementing RMNCAH programmes in Kenya.
• Demonstrated ability to improve service uptake for reproductive, maternal health and family planning.
• Experience delivering training and capacity‑building on data quality and use.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple activities and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
