Senior AI Solution Architect

About the role

The Senior AI Solution Architect will join UNDP Kenya in Nairobi to lead the design, engineering, integration and deployment of high‑impact AI solutions for the national AI Programme. Working closely with the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy and the Technopolis Development Authority, you will ensure AI applications are responsibly built, adopted and scaled across government and partner ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical architecture and engineering standards for priority AI solutions.
• Translate use cases into end‑to‑end solution blueprints, roadmaps and deployment plans.
• Establish standards for version control, code review, containerisation, secure configuration and observability.
• Design data ingestion pipelines, storage layers, APIs and backend services.
• Integrate AI models and inference components into testable, production‑ready solutions.
• Implement CI/CD and MLOps practices, including automated testing, model versioning and reproducible environments.
• Configure and optimise GPU‑based compute environments for training and inference workloads.
• Set up monitoring for system health, latency, throughput and model degradation.
• Lead technical reviews, pilot deployments and mentor junior developers.
• Produce technical documentation, runbooks and reusable engineering playbooks.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in AI/ML system engineering.
• Strong hands‑on proficiency with Python for production AI software.
• Experience architecting end‑to‑end AI or data‑intensive systems, from ingestion to model serving and operational handover.
• Familiarity with container technologies and GPU‑enabled compute environments.
