Senior Evaluation Manager – Center External Reviews

About the role

The Independent Advisory and Evaluation Service (IAES) of CGIAR is looking for a Senior Evaluation Manager to lead the Center External Review (CER) pillar. Based in Nairobi, you will ensure consistent evaluation standards across CGIAR research centres and provide high‑quality evidence to support decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the CER framework, maintaining uniform methods, ratings, templates and review cycles for all CGIAR centres.
• Manage evaluator selection, quality‑assurance processes and the delivery of review reports.
• Coordinate consultation, steering and validation meetings, workshops and after‑action reviews.
• Prepare timely evaluation information for CGIAR governing bodies and ensure compliance with CGIAR evaluation policies and IAES procedures.
• Monitor implementation of agreed actions and contribute to cross‑centre synthesis products.
• Represent IAES evaluation activities at relevant meetings and support thematic evaluations as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in evaluating organisations or research institutes, including design, planning, oversight, quality assurance, analysis and reporting.
• Background in independent evaluation offices or in research‑for‑development/academic settings is desirable.
• Strong ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams and to communicate evaluation findings effectively.
