Senior Software Engineer (Node.js)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help shape cloud communication services across Africa. The role involves building scalable applications on a JavaScript stack and collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with Product Managers and engineers to deliver versatile software solutions under tight deadlines.
• Translate software requirements into working products and integrate with various APIs (HTTP, XML, SOAP, JSON).
• Maintain and improve backend services using Node.js and related frameworks.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration processes.
• Contribute to agile planning and task management using JIRA.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience (not mandatory).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive multitasker comfortable wearing many hats in a fast‑paced environment.
• Integrity, credibility, and dedication to the company mission.

Required skills

• Node.js (Express.js) for backend development.
• JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience with React (frontend) – a plus.
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Testing frameworks like Mocha and Jest.
• Message brokers such as Redis and RabbitMQ.
• API integration (HTTP, XML, SOAP, JSON).
• Git version control and Docker (Docker, Docker Compose, Docker Hub).
