Solution Architect

About the role

KCB Bank is hiring a full-time Solution Architect in Nairobi, reporting to the Senior Manager Solutions Architecture. The role develops solution designs, reviews them and completed implementations, recommends the best technology options and analyses their impact on business goals, while minimising technical debt.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the bank's business drivers and elicit business requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases and workflow analysis.
• Design end-to-end solutions and architectures for projects and initiatives, aligning them with stakeholders before implementation.
• Liaise with business subject matter experts to build clear roadmaps of business solutions.
• Analyse the technology environment and recommend the best path to solve business problems, including process improvement.
• Control solution development so technical and business requirements are met, documenting deviations and technical debt.
• Provide architectural oversight of projects and support the quality assurance team with performance and non-functional testing.
• Guide the adoption of design patterns, lead capacity management and maintain a repository of deliverables and documentation.
• Facilitate discussions with diverse stakeholders, resolve conflicts and translate business needs into technology and architecture decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years in at least two IT disciplines such as business architecture, application architecture, application development, middleware, microservices or SOA.
• 3+ years of experience with a formal enterprise architecture framework.
• Professional certifications such as CBAP, TOGAF, ITIL Foundation, PRINCE II, PMP, MSP, CSM or PMI-ACP.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DevOps and software delivery methods (waterfall, agile, hybrid).
• Understanding of cloud computing and containerization.
• Knowledge of holistic enterprise architecture components.
