Solutions Engineer (Pre-Sales) - French Speaking

About the role

A client of GAP Recruitment Services is looking for a commercially aware and technically accomplished Solutions Engineer in Nairobi, Kenya. The role sits at the intersection of technology and business development: partnering with the sales team and engaging customers to understand their operational challenges, develop technical solutions and influence purchasing decisions. Fluency in French is mandatory.

Key responsibilities

• Run structured technical discovery sessions, identify the right products, technologies, configurations and integrations, and advise customers on alternatives that are technically or commercially impractical.
• Prepare detailed technical proposals, solution specifications, configurations and bills of quantities, and respond to RFPs, RFQs and tenders.
• Lead technical presentations, product demonstrations and proof-of-concept exercises, and explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical decision-makers.
• Work with the sales team through the sales cycle, helping qualify opportunities, differentiate solutions and close deals.
• Validate solution feasibility with implementation and technical teams, flag risks and dependencies, and provide technical documentation for handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Pre-sales, Technical Sales Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related ICT environment.
• Demonstrable experience turning customer requirements into technical solutions, writing technical proposals and responding to tenders.
• Experience giving customer-facing technical presentations and working alongside sales teams.

Required skills

• Good understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, hardware, software and enterprise technology environments.
• Ability to evaluate requirements, recommend products and configurations, and interpret technical specifications.
• Fluency in French.
