Technical Expert – Payment Authorization Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Expert to lead payment authorization optimization for Card‑Not‑Present (CNP) transactions. The role will support issuing banks and acquirers in Nairobi, improving approval rates through detailed analysis and technical deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze authorization decline trends and identify actionable opportunities to boost CNP approval rates.
• Partner with issuing banks and acquirers to implement optimization strategies.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for deployment and approval initiatives.
• Coordinate onboarding, technical support requests, and project execution across multiple stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, incidents, and deployment milestones, providing regular status updates.
• Lead client review meetings to discuss ongoing projects, technical issues, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal technical, operational, and business teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Drive operational excellence and resolve technical issues affecting payment approvals.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in card payments, payment gateways, acquiring, issuer processing, or technical payment delivery.
• Strong understanding of payment authorization flows, CNP transactions, and digital commerce.
• Hands‑on experience with merchant integrations, payment processing, and transaction lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of authorization decline codes, fraud controls, and payment optimization techniques.
• Proven project and stakeholder management abilities in fast‑paced environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication.
