Transport Lead – Manage Daily Transport Operations

About the role

The Transport Lead is responsible for overseeing daily transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant, cost‑effective, and efficient movement of goods. Reporting to the General Manager, Transport, the role drives performance, safety, and continuous improvement across the transport function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily transport activities to meet customer and business requirements.
• Monitor fleet utilisation, optimise routing, load planning and vehicle allocation.
• Supervise transport controllers, planners, drivers and support staff; conduct briefings and performance reviews.
• Use transportation management systems and tracking tools to monitor shipments and vehicles in real time.
• Ensure on‑time collection and delivery, resolve operational issues and service disruptions promptly.
• Develop employee capability through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Promote a positive safety culture and employee engagement.
• Oversee vehicle availability, maintenance, compliance and manage transport‑related costs.
• Manage performance of suppliers and contractors and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead transport teams and manage fleet performance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
• Experience in monitoring and improving operational metrics.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Transportation Management System (TMS) usage.
• Fleet management and route optimisation.
