Unit Accountant – Hotel Pre‑opening (Nairobi)

About the role

The Unit Accountant will lead financial operations for a new luxury hotel and serviced‑apartment property during its pre‑opening phase and after launch. Based in Nairobi, you will design accounting workflows, integrate systems, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Set up property management and accounting system integration, establish internal controls and procedures.
• Track pre‑opening expenses against the approved budget and support vendor registration.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, profit & loss accounts, balance sheets, and perform bank reconciliations.
• Manage accounts receivable/payable, oversee night audit, and audit income streams (rooms, F&B, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax regulations, process payroll, and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Analyse financial data to identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA‑K or ACCA qualification.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience in the hospitality sector; pre‑opening experience is a plus.
