Accountant – Export Agriculture

About the role

The Partnership Agency is hiring an Accountant for its Nanyuki office. The role maintains accurate financial records, manages cash and supplier payments and ensures full statutory and tax compliance in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. It is a hands-on position requiring strong internal controls, high accuracy and the ability to handle large transaction volumes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger, and prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Process bank and petty cash payments, reconcile them and ensure they are properly approved and documented; support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Maintain the fixed asset register and support month-end and year-end closing and audits
• Manage creditors: verify and file supplier invoices, run creditor ageing reports, schedule payments and reconcile supplier statements
• Apply withholding tax correctly and prepare and file VAT, PAYE, WHT and Corporation Tax returns, including correct VAT treatment on export sales
• Ensure compliance with NSSF, SHA and Housing Levy, support KRA audits and liaise with tax consultants
• Post transactions accurately in accounting software and maintain strong internal controls with proper documentation and audit trails

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA (K) Section II or III (CPA III preferred)
• Minimum 6 years' accounting experience
• Experience in high-volume, transaction-heavy environments
• Strong practical knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and compliance; export agriculture experience is an added advantage
