Accountant (f/m/x) – Sub‑Saharan Africa

About the role

As the Accountant for the African entities of ecoligo, you will support financial operations and compliance across Kenya, Uganda and Ghana. Reporting to the Accounting Manager for Africa, you will ensure accurate bookkeeping, timely tax filings and smooth month‑end close.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee external bookkeepers and tax advisors to guarantee accurate and timely financial records.
• Review vouchers, contracts and payment documentation for completeness and policy compliance.
• Prepare electronic payment transactions for operational expenses.
• Manage invoice preparation, revenue collection and dunning processes with local teams.
• Ensure correct tax and commercial accounting treatment, including payroll taxes, VAT, foreign contractor tax and corporate income tax.
• Support year‑end financial statement preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Perform regular reconciliations in Accounts IQ and Xero, including quarterly inter‑company reconciliations.
• Respond to ad‑hoc requests from line managers and contribute to process automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS, local GAAP).
• Working knowledge of regional tax regulations (VAT, payroll tax, corporate tax).
• Excellent verbal and written communication to liaise with internal teams, external advisors and auditors.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain structured documentation.
• Proactive attitude toward identifying inefficiencies and suggesting improvements.
