Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Accountant to join our finance team in Nairobi. The role involves managing day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring accurate records, and supporting strategic financial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting books.
• Process daily financial transactions, including receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank accounts, cash books, and supplier statements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and follow‑up on outstanding payments.
• Prepare statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF/SHIF) and ensure compliance with KRA regulations.
• Process payroll and maintain employee payroll records.
• Monitor budgets and produce variance analysis reports.
• Conduct stock reconciliation and support inventory management.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities during audits and compliance reviews.
• Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls.
• Prepare management reports to support strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA(K) finalist or CPA(K) qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in retail, hospitality, veterinary services, or FMCG is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Zoho Books.
