Accountant Officer II

About the role

The Rift Valley Technical Training Institute is seeking an Accountant Officer II to provide comprehensive accounting and clerical support within its finance department. This full‑time position will play a key role in revenue management, financial reporting, and payroll processing for a large educational institution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger postings, statements, and daily data entry of financial transactions.
• Manage revenue streams, extract monthly fee balances, and compile vote‑head summaries.
• Assist in budgeting, forecast income by vote head, and ensure audit‑ready documentation.
• Produce financial management reports, verify invoices, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile debtor and creditor registers and verify payment vouchers before disbursement.
• Prepare payroll, statutory deductions, and maintain accurate accounting records.

Required profile

• Pass in Part III of the CPA Examination or a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting or Business Administration (Accounting).
• Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing.
• Minimum five (5) years of proven accounting experience, preferably in accounts receivable.
• Age above 30 years.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial reporting in conformity with IPSAS.
• Experience using accounting software and other accounting IT‑systems.
• Strong bookkeeping and general accounting capabilities.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
