Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

Royal Mabati Factory Limited is hiring an Accounts Payable officer in Mombasa. The role covers the full accounts payable function: timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments and reconciliations, maintenance of financial records, compliance with tax and internal control requirements, and collaboration with suppliers and internal departments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review and verify supplier invoices and payment requests; perform 3-way matching (invoice, LPO, delivery note) and resolve discrepancies
• Post invoices into the accounting system (SAP/ERPNext/Zoho/QuickBooks) and ensure compliance with procurement policies and tax regulations
• Prepare and process vendor payments (EFT, cheque, RTGS, mobile money) with correct tax deductions (WHT, WVAT, WRENT)
• Maintain vendor files and onboarding documents, reconcile supplier accounts and track supplier performance issues
• Ensure correct withholding tax deductions and timely submission, and VAT compliance for applicable invoices
• Maintain financial records, manage petty cash disbursements, monthly reconciliations and support monthly closing
• Prepare supplier aging reports, cash flow projections and analysis of payment trends and overdue items; assist auditors with documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• CPA Section II/Level 4 or higher preferred
• 2-5 years' experience in accounts payable or general accounting
• Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws (VAT, WHT, statutory deductions)

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, ERPNext, Zoho, Oracle, QuickBooks)
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and AP workflows
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
