Accounts Receivable Clerk

About the role

Canonical is hiring a full-time Accounts Receivable Clerk in Westlands, Nairobi. The role covers keeping accounts receivable ledgers accurate, managing customer data, processing invoices and helping collect debts, while supporting month-end reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy of A/R ledgers and reconcile accounts
• Manage customer data (names, addresses), validate and approve new accounts, and keep an audit record of changes and approvals
• Process customer invoices accurately and on time, entering them into accounting systems and keeping files tidy
• Resolve issues before invoising and follow the Canonical credit control policy
• Maximise cash collection, track debt collection through to conclusion and ensure payments come in line with contractual terms
• Help with month-end bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Resolve questions and escalate when appropriate, and maintain records showing compliance with processes

Required profile

• Exceptional academic results in an Accounting or Finance subject
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and ability to meet deadlines
• Great communication skills for direct contact with customers
• A passion for finance and ambition to progress their career

Required skills

• Excellent spreadsheet skills, including pivots and lookups
• Experience using an enterprise-level accounting system
