About the role
The University seeks an experienced Adjunct Faculty member to teach and mentor students in midwifery and related nursing disciplines. This full‑time position involves delivering both theoretical and practical instruction within a dynamic academic environment.
Key responsibilities
- Teach and assess nursing courses in the Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Pharmacy programmes.
- Deliver laboratory and practical sessions covering midwifery, gynecology, and newborn care.
- Develop and regularly update course materials, laboratory manuals, and digital learning resources.
- Participate in curriculum development, programme review, and accreditation activities.
- Mentor students in academic, professional, and research development.
- Supervise undergraduate research projects where applicable.
- Engage in collaborative research, scholarly activities, and grant proposal development.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Dean.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc.N) from an accredited institution.
- Master of Science in Midwifery, Maternal and Neonatal Nursing, Advanced Practice Midwifery, or a closely related field.
- PhD in Nursing (Midwifery/Reproductive Health) or related discipline is an advantage.
- Minimum three (3) years of university teaching experience in midwifery or related areas.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Nursing Council of Kenya) where applicable.
- Strong background in midwifery, gynecology nursing, obstetrics, and practical experience in labor, delivery, obstetric emergencies, and newborn care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ethical and legal principles, modern educational methods, and technology‑enhanced learning.
- Proven research productivity and grant‑writing capability.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, high professionalism, and integrity.
