Administrative Internship

About the role

The United Nations Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary‑General on the Great Lakes Region is seeking an Administrative Intern to support the Office’s work in Nairobi for a six‑month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational support in line with UN regulations and procedures.
• Assist in planning, coordinating and organizing meetings, stakeholder engagements, official visits and other mission‑related events.
• Prepare agendas, briefing materials, participant lists, talking points, biographies, meeting summaries and minutes for high‑level engagements.
• Conduct research and analysis on operational and strategic issues to support policy development and decision‑making.
• Collect, organize and analyse data for reports, presentations and official documentation.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and coordination across mission components.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in fields such as Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Public Policy or related disciplines.
• Experience in human resources, research, analytical work, project management, policy support, coordination or administrative support is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English (required); French is a working language of the UN Secretariat.
