Advocacy Manager – Sudan

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an Advocacy Manager to lead its advocacy and communications work across Sudan. This senior position will shape NRC’s humanitarian diplomacy, develop policy recommendations, and serve as the primary media spokesperson while integrating advocacy into programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement NRC Sudan’s advocacy and communications strategy aligned with country and regional priorities.
• Provide high‑quality analysis of humanitarian, protection, access, political and diplomatic developments.
• Produce evidence‑based policy positions and targeted advocacy products.
• Lead media and public communications, ensuring risk‑aware, people‑centred storytelling.
• Represent NRC in key stakeholder forums and maintain relationships with diplomats, donors, UN agencies, NGOs and the media.
• Support the Country Management Group with strategic advice and analysis.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian advocacy, protection of civilians and humanitarian access.
• Proven ability to conduct policy analysis and produce actionable recommendations.
• Strong media relations experience, including serving as a spokesperson.
• Demonstrated networking skills with diplomatic, donor and UN stakeholders.
• Ability to work at senior management level and influence decision‑making.
