Airfield Manager

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Airfield Manager to oversee daily operations of the Diego Garcia airfield, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and maintaining 24/7 operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily airfield operations, enforce compliance with DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO and other standards.
• Serve as primary contact for safe and functional airfield operations, including decisions to open or close the airfield.
• Lead construction, repairs and security requirements for the airfield.
• Supervise Airfield Management Division personnel and coordinate multi‑function base activities.
• Conduct audits, inspections and training to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of overall management experience for an airfield, preferably comparable to Diego Garcia operations.
• Valid passport (minimum 1 year) and ability to obtain required visas and security clearances.
• Ability to work in a remote overseas environment and meet medical and deployment requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO regulations and related airfield standards.
• Familiarity with airfield security, safety practices and multi‑function base operations.
