Assistant Finance Officer – Entry Level

About the role

The Assistant Finance Officer will support day‑to‑day financial and accounting operations across the various business units of Technical University of Mombasa Enterprises. This entry‑level position ensures accurate recording of transactions, preparation of vouchers, and assistance in financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and verify payment and revenue vouchers and submit them for processing in line with company policies.
• Record and process financial transactions promptly and accurately.
• Support the preparation of budgets, cash‑flow projections and financial schedules.
• Process invoices, receipts and other financial documentation.
• Monitor revenue, expenditure, receivables and payables across business units.
• Assist in the preparation of statutory returns and other compliance requirements.
• Help with audit preparations and respond to information requests.
• Assist the Finance Officer in preparing board financial reports and management accounts.
• Maintain up‑to‑date filing and safeguarding of financial records.
• Enter all assigned transactions in the ERP system and reconcile bank and cash accounts monthly.
• Process supplier payments accurately and ensure supporting documentation is complete.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Economics or Statistics.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under established deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
