Associate Accountant - Tours & Travel

About the role

A tour and travel and logistics company, recruited through a partner agency, is looking for an Associate Accountant in Nairobi. The role suits a highly analytical, detail-oriented and proactive person who processes financial transactions, identifies errors, improves processes and ensures financial clarity.

Key responsibilities

• Check, verify and re-verify financial transactions for accuracy and justification, and perform account reconciliations, supplier invoice checks and internal financial reviews.
• Ensure every transaction has complete, audit-ready supporting documentation.
• Analyze financial data for inconsistencies, missing details and potential risks, investigate discrepancies and propose workflow improvements.
• Resolve blocked or complex tasks proactively and enforce financial controls.
• Collaborate with operations, reservations and management, seek clarifications and challenge assumptions to keep financial data accurate.
• Follow internal accounting policies, tax regulations and industry standards, and support audits and financial reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting.
• Experience in financial auditing, reconciliations or forensic accounting is highly desirable.
• Industry experience in tourism, hospitality or service businesses.

Required skills

• Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting tools.
• Proficiency with Excel.
