Associate Director/Director – East and Southern Africa

About the role

The Associate Director/Director will report to the Regional Director and work closely with senior leaders across IDinsight. Based in Nairobi, the role provides significant autonomy to shape and execute data‑driven initiatives that generate social impact across East and Southern Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise, secure funding for, and lead high‑impact projects that use data and evidence to influence policy and practice.
• Oversee project teams (typically 3‑5 managers and 10‑15 staff), ensuring research quality, ethical standards, client satisfaction, and budget compliance.
• Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor by publishing, speaking at conferences, and advising governments, foundations, and NGOs.
• Contribute to regional and global strategy development in partnership with the Regional Director and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in evidence‑based development, research, or policy advisory.
• Strong network within the impact community and demonstrated ability to secure funding.
• Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering measurable social outcomes.
