Associate Principal – Legal Practice

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, results‑driven Associate Principal to join a dynamic legal practice in Nairobi. The role involves delivering high‑quality legal services on complex assignments across Capital Markets, M&A, Commercial & Corporate Law, and Property & Conveyancing, with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of transactions and legal assignments, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and timely delivery.
• Provide sound legal advice, conduct thorough research, and draft or review legal documents in the focus areas.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior lawyers, offering feedback and oversight to maintain high standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve client objectives and firm goals.
• Lead legal projects, meet deadlines, keep stakeholders informed, and deliver quality services.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, prepare for meetings, and ensure excellent client service.
• Participate in business development activities, including networking and enhancing professional profile.
• Scope services, quote fees, and meet billable targets while optimizing resource utilisation.
• Contribute to firm knowledge sharing, training, and improvement of templates and processes.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, ethical standards, and firm procedures.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree from a recognised university.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
• Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a valid practising certificate.
• Minimum five (5) years post‑admission experience in legal practice.
• Substantial experience in Capital Markets, M&A, Commercial & Corporate Law, and/or Property & Conveyancing.
• Company Secretarial qualification is an advantage.
