Associate Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an Associate Programme Management Officer to support the Deputy Executive Director (DED) in Nairobi. This position provides essential organisational, administrative and substantive assistance to the Special Assistant, ensuring the effective delivery of UNEP’s Medium‑Term Strategy and Programme of Work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide organisational, administrative and substantive support to the Special Assistant of the Deputy Executive Director.
• Assist the DED in daily execution of duties, including coordination of meetings, briefings and follow‑up actions.
• Support the oversight and implementation of UNEP’s Medium‑Term Strategy, Programme of Work and UN Reform initiatives.
• Prepare and review documents, reports and presentations for senior management.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth programme delivery.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to provide high‑level administrative and substantive support in an international setting.
• Experience in assisting senior executives with programme coordination and strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of UN system processes and environmental programme contexts.
