Backend Lead Developer (Personalization Platform)

About the role

We are seeking a strong Backend Lead Developer to join our personalization engineering team for a large enterprise hospitality platform. The team owns core backend services that power personalized digital experiences across internal and customer‑facing systems. This is a hands‑on technical leadership position focused on architecture, design, and high‑quality execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture and technical design for personalization platform services.
• Design and build cloud‑native APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, AWS Lambda, and API Gateway.
• Develop complex serverless workflows with AWS Step Functions and related services.
• Maintain services that support recommendations, eligibility rules, and workflow‑driven capabilities.
• Migrate, modernize, and improve existing backend services in the cloud.
• Work with NoSQL databases and search systems such as DynamoDB, DocumentDB/MongoDB, OpenSearch, or Elasticsearch.
• Define engineering standards, reusable patterns, and ensure reliability, scalability, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, QA, and other teams.
• Improve observability, debugging, and operational quality of backend services.
• Mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript and Node.js development, including async execution and production debugging.
• Strong experience building APIs with AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
• Proven track record with AWS serverless architecture and workflow orchestration (Step Functions).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with Serverless Framework or similar deployment tools.
• Solid understanding of NoSQL databases, especially DynamoDB, and database design principles.
