Bond Keeper / Officer (Mombasa)

About the role

Africa Global Logistics is hiring a Bond Keeper/Officer in Mombasa, Kenya, to manage customs bonds and support the smooth clearance of goods. The role ensures full compliance with Customs (KRA) regulations through accurate record keeping, customs documentation, bond management and regulatory monitoring. It acts as the control point for all project bond transactions, ensuring proper reconciliation and compliance in inbound transactions. The position is full time, middle level, and requires on-site work.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, validate and submit Import Declaration Forms (IDFs) and customs entries aligned with the correct customs regimes, checking HS classification, quantities and values.
• Maintain proper documentation for customs audits and inspections.
• Monitor and manage Customs Bonds (CB1 and CB1A) to keep bonded cargo covered, track bond utilization and exposure, and liaise with the customs clearance and operations team and declarants to avoid bond exhaustion and operational disruption.
• Perform pre-audit checks on inbound documentation and post-audit reviews to ensure accuracy of entries and compliance with internal SOPs and customs laws.
• Escalate and resolve documentation discrepancies in real time and act as the regulatory controller for bond transactions.
• Submit monthly bond reports, monthly reconciliation and compliance reports, and monthly bond consumption projections, and maintain records for customs inspections and internal and external audits.
• Coordinate with KRA Customs officials and support customs audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.

Required profile

• Diploma in C&F.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in bond transactions and declarations, customs compliance and documentation, and bond management.
• Relevant qualification in logistics, supply chain management or customs administration.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of KRA systems (iCMS / Kentrade).
• Understanding of the regulatory framework, customs procedures and customs regimes.
