Briquettes Quality Assurance & Packaging Officer

About the role

Malindi Water and Sanitation Company is recruiting a Briquettes Quality Assurance & Packaging Officer to support the quality control, packaging, labeling and storage of briquettes produced under the Resource Recovery Programme. The position is full time and entry level.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine quality testing of briquettes, including moisture content, density, size uniformity and durability.
• Inspect and verify feedstock quality before processing.
• Maintain quality records, batch traceability logs and production documentation.
• Oversee packaging, labeling and storage of finished briquettes in line with utility standards, ensuring proper stacking, moisture protection and FIFO rotation.
• Support dispatch preparations and keep inventory records of finished products.
• Enforce OHS requirements such as PPE use, dust control, hygiene and safe handling of carbonized materials.
• Report quality deviations, defects, hazards and process bottlenecks to the Production Supervisor.
• Take part in continuous quality-improvement activities and follow up on customer feedback.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Experience in sales, customer relations management or supply-chain operations.
• Experience with biomass or briquette value chains is an added advantage.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
