Business Development Consultant

About the role

The organization is seeking a Business Development Consultant to support growth and strategic initiatives in Kisumu and the surrounding region. The role is full-time and on-site, focused on building long-term client relationships, identifying market opportunities and delivering solutions that create measurable value. It involves working across functions to drive revenue, improve processes and strengthen the organization's market position.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching target markets, qualifying prospects and developing tailored proposals.
• Manage lead generation activities and conduct client meetings.
• Provide consultative guidance to help clients address their business challenges.
• Support business planning, including forecasting, pipeline management and preparation of reports and presentations for leadership.
• Collaborate with internal teams, track performance against targets and maintain accurate records in business development and CRM systems.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy and recommendations.

Required profile

• A relevant diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field is beneficial.
• Prior experience in sales, consulting or business development is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site in Kisumu, manage multiple priorities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• New business development and lead generation, with a track record of identifying and converting opportunities.
• Consulting and business planning, including data analysis, strategy development and proposal writing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in basic office and productivity tools such as spreadsheets, presentations and CRM systems, and quick learning of new digital tools.
