Business Development Executive

About the role

CIC Insurance Group, an insurance and financial services organisation operating in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Malawi, is hiring a Business Development Executive for its General Insurance business. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the role holder generates revenue to meet corporate annual budgets by developing assigned markets and channels, building strong relationships and partnerships, and recruiting, onboarding and activating new insurance intermediaries to grow Gross Written Premium.

Key responsibilities

• Optimise the portfolio mix between Motor, Medical and Non-Motor business to balance risk and profitability.
• Identify, recruit and support new intermediaries through targeted relationship management.
• Plan and run training programmes and consumer education to improve product knowledge and channel performance.
• Acquire and retain profitable business through new business and renewals.
• Promote service excellence and a good customer experience across all touchpoints.
• Build the capacity of intermediaries and the internal sales force through training and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure timely premium collection from intermediaries and clients.
• Liaise with support functions to resolve client queries and complaints quickly.
• Gather and analyse market intelligence to inform product development and sales strategy.
• Prepare quotations and services promptly for clients, brokers and independent agents.
• Take part in department planning, budgeting and meetings, and follow audit, compliance and risk management requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; a diploma in Insurance is desirable.
• At least two years of relevant experience.
• Open to internal and external candidates.
