Business Development Officer

About the role

AceleAfrica is seeking motivated Business Development Officers to drive growth of its sustainable lithium battery solutions across Kenya. Based in Nairobi, you will work on‑site to identify new opportunities, build relationships with clients, and support the company’s mission of expanding clean energy access.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and qualify new business opportunities in the energy and battery technology market.
• Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline from prospecting to closing.
• Conduct market research, analyse industry trends and prepare tailored proposals and presentations.
• Engage with potential and existing clients through meetings, calls and on‑site visits, ensuring a strong customer experience.
• Collaborate with finance, technical and operations teams to develop pricing structures, support contract negotiations and provide accurate forecasts.
• Track performance against targets, maintain CRM records and contribute to go‑to‑market strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in new business development, prospecting, pipeline management and closing deals.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret market data, sales metrics and customer insights.
• Foundational knowledge of finance concepts such as pricing, margins and basic forecasting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with effective presentation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in energy, clean‑tech, manufacturing or related B2B sectors is an advantage.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Nairobi County and travel to client locations as needed.
• Self‑motivated, target‑driven and comfortable in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
