Business Development Officer - Mombasa

About the role

Royal Mabati Factory Limited is hiring a Business Development Officer in Mombasa. The role drives business growth by identifying new market opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, supporting sales initiatives and expanding the customer base. It covers lead generation, proposal development, competitor analysis and customer feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Market research and lead generation: find new customers and markets, build lead lists through networking, referrals, databases and cold outreach, maintain a prospect pipeline in CRM or Excel, run competitor analysis and gather customer feedback.
• Sales support and proposals: prepare and customise proposals, quotations and tender documents, follow up leads, support presentations and site visits, and track conversion rates.
• Relationship management: check in with existing customers, resolve queries and complaints, represent the company at exhibitions and events, and up-sell and cross-sell.
• Strategy and reporting: track KPIs such as leads generated, proposals sent and deals closed, report weekly, monitor trends and help prepare monthly and quarterly business reviews.
• Documentation and compliance: keep records of proposals, contracts and engagements, follow internal approval processes and align with company policies.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work with marketing, sales, customer service and finance teams, and take part in planning meetings.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or a related field.
• Proven experience of 2-5 years in B2B sales, account management or business development.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, and strong negotiation and closing skills.
• Goal-oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
